Nathan + Abby

These two are probably my most adventurous couple for 2023 - they spend a lot of time hiking & both have participated in rock climbing competitions! I am so excited for their summer wedding they're holding at Cloudland Canyon in Trenton, GA! Before I even got around to asking if they had any ideas about where they might want to do their engagement photos, Abby asked if I would be willing to hike in Little River Canyon with them! I did not even hesitate to say "umm yes please!!". I might not be a competitive climber, but I sure do love to be outdoors taking photos of gorgeous couples in some beautiful scenery.

We started the session with an easy 20 minute hike down the Little Falls Trail at Little River Canyon. Once we made it to the bottom near the water, I realized I was going to have a challenge. It was a gorgeous, warm spring Saturday in North Alabama, which meant everybody was at the canyon for a swim! Thankfully, I think everyone noticed the nicely dressed couple and the lady with the camera yelling poses at them from across the water - so we were able to get a ton of shots where it felt like they were the only ones exploring the waterfalls that day! And when I say I was yelling, it's just because the waterfalls are loud okay, I promise I'm nice & won't yell at you during your photoshoot hahaha! ;)

Nathan + Abby were such a dream to work with. I should have just shared their whole gallery, because it was so hard for me to pick photos to go in this blog. They went along with every idea I had - they weren't afraid to take off their shoes, roll up his pants, hold up her dress & go wade in the water for us to get all kinds of beautiful images! Which leads me to my next set - the epic, jaw-dropping, frame above your mantle photos we were able to get of these two out on the edge of Little River Falls!

We could have just stopped then to be honest. I mean, we did a good bit of hiking and got the money shots! But I am sure glad they were down for changing outfits and continuing to take photos, because I just loooove the casual vibes the second half of their session give off. As we were finishing up our hike, I noticed a field of wildflowers that I knew we just had to use!

Okay, let's be honest, they were probably weeds hahah - but they were pretty! I thought it would be so fitting to take their photos here, because Abby is using a wildflower theme for her florals in the wedding!

To finish off their session, I asked if they wanted to take just a couple more near a tree where there was some gorgeous sunshine & lighting! Here's an insider tip.. when your photographer says "just a couple more", it's like the book When You Give A Mouse A Cookie - she's going to keep wanting more. When I have a couple that really inspires me & fuels my creativity, it is SO hard to make myself stop posing and photographing. Plus their session was the first I attempted some shots on film! I am still waiting for that roll of film to come back in from being developed, but I can't wait to see how they turned out.

If the film is half as beautiful as these digitals, I will be thrilled!
