CHRISTIAN + BAYLEY

Christian and Bayley have the most precious baby girl! When it came time to schedule their engagement photos, they asked if they could include their daughter in a few of the photos and of course I said yes! In today's blog, I'll share some of my favorite images from their session & a few tips on how to get the most of your engagement photos when you bring your babies.

Ideally, if you're bringing a little one to your engagement session, it's a great idea to bring someone else along too. Bringing a grandparent or other relative to watch your baby while you get your photos taken helps ease your mind and focus on your individual time with your honey. I'll also usually have that person stand behind me while I take your family photos to help get your kiddos attention. I can do a pretty good job of making funny noises or playing peek-a-boo behind the camera to get their attention, but having someone they know behind me doing the same usually gets a lot more smiles & giggles!

If someone isn't available to help us out on the day of your engagement photos, don't stress! Christian and Bayley didn't have anyone available & we were still able to get beautiful images! They brought snacks & toys to keep their babe busy while we took their photos. Although, she mostly just picked dandelions & explored the field we were in!

My last piece of advice is just to relax and have fun with it! If your toddler has a meltdown a few feet away while we're taking your photos, it is okay! I know that the process of getting photos taken with a stranger is out of their usual routine & toddlers usually prefer to stick to a routine with people they know. As long as they're safe, I don't mind the crying if you don't - we can run through some poses really quickly between breaks to try to keep them happy.

One thing I want you to know about me as your wedding or portrait photographer is this: I will go with the flow, be patient, and stay worry-free in order to set the tone for your time with me!

If you're a couple with children who want to bring them along to your engagement session with me, please do! Your children are a part of your love story, so I think it is beautiful to include them in your engagement photos! Plus, you will get some updated family photos - which I know every family always want. Your little ones grow so fast, so I am happy to document this stage with them during your engagement season of life!
